In October, we bring the fun to Olathe! We’ll meet at Red Crow Brewing Company for Thirsty Thursday and have special happy hour prices. Fun Fact: Red Crow was a hobby hatched in an Olathe garage, now 12 years in the making, now offering as many as 15 different craft brews on-tap at any given time.

Copywriter by day. Freelance Rockstar by night. Julie Cortés lives, breathes, teaches, speaks, and coaches on all things freelance. She’s run her own business for over 25 years, is the founder of The Freelance Exchange of KC, and created a much-needed college-level course, Freelancing 101, for the world-renowned KC Art Institute, where she teaches as an adjunct professor. Awarded dozens of times over for her work, leadership, volunteerism, and community involvement, she’s regularly sought out for media interviews, coaching, and speaking engagements. Julie is loving life, living out her passion for helping creative freelancers succeed.

About our illustrious presenter:
M2 has worked and freelanced for a variety of local television affiliates in Des Moines, Orlando and Kansas City. Up until a few years ago, he was the co-host of a local, daily entertainment show Kansas City Live. He’s now firmly entrenched in the world of personal branding at Lillian James Creative.
Over the years, Mackie has won a slew of regional Emmy awards and interviewed countless celebs. “I have eight Emmy awards and eight Oscar-winners under my belt, but who’s counting?” he quips. “Also, I like to write. Good thing because that’s what I do for a living. My parents never could comprehend how I earned my keep stringing words together for the universe to appreciate. Frankly, that makes three of us. But I feel like it’s what I was put on this earth to do.”
In September, our community of curious creatives will meet on the west side of the Metro. Although we will not stay beyond coffee, the website indicates that we could. (Cocktails, craft beer brewed in-house, the coolest vibe in the Midwest, friends and good tunes. Yard games on the outdoor patio or great tunes inside. We gotcha’ covered.) Join us for a cup of coffee from beans specially chosen from the hills of Central and South America. Or maybe just catch up with fellow freelancers enjoying a morning brew!
