Join us for a virtual coffee!

Feel the Love Portraiture Workshop
February 11th from 8:30am – 10:30am

Present by Hamama Bushra

Although this Valentine’s Day looks different from past ones, it can still be special. Join artist and FX Social Director Hamama Bushra for a hands-on FX Coffee Meetup, where she’ll lead a creative workshop. Attendees will have the opportunity to practice a little self-love or express their love for someone dear to them through the art of portraiture. Hamama will share her techniques and way of looking at a subject before putting form, color, and imagination to canvas as participants paint or draw their own pieces.* Depending on your chosen medium, a list of recommended supplies is below.

*For anyone who would rather observe, you’re invited to simply listen, learn, and converse. Portraiture participation is not mandatory.

  • A photograph of the subject you plan to illustrate (or a mirror if doing a self-portrait)
  • Acrylic paint and brushes with paper or canvas
  • Watercolor paint and brushes with paper (preferably watercolor paper)
  • Crayons with paper
  • Color pencils with paper
  • Markers with paper
  • Black point pen with paper

About Hamama:

Trained as a graphic designer in Pakistan, Hamama moved to the U.S. where she earned her master’s degree in Art History from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. While furthering her research in pursuit of her doctorate degree, Hamama realized that she could no longer ignore her natural talent and passion for design and returned to creating art. Today, in addition to commercial work, Hamama practices a unique style of portrait painting defined by stylized forms, carefully preserving and highlighting the soul and personality of each subject.

Hamama’s years of study helped immensely in her ability to analyze and understand her clients’ needs to achieve their goals — whether that be through portraiture, logo design, or rebranding an entire business. Working as a freelancer is both empowering and satisfying for Hamama, as she chooses her own clients with whom she develops trusting and fruitful relationships.
