Hearing “Yes” More Often: How to Improve Your Persuasive Powers
In Daniel Pink’s recent book, “To Sell is Human,” he explains what he calls “Non-sales selling: persuading, convincing and influencing others to give up something they’ve got in exchange for what we’ve got.” The role of today’s executive has shifted from order giver to mover. Pink explains it this way: “Moving other people to part with resources, whether something tangible like cash or intangible like effort or attention – so that both get what they want.”
Our December luncheon speaker, Morningstar Communications CEO, Eric Morgenstern will begin by providing a philosophical framework to help structure your thinking about persuasiveness, and then move into both strategic approaches and specific tactical suggestions.
Eric will also share his top 10 tips to hear “yes!” more often, including how to harness the power of three, the macro/micro technique and one of his personal favorites, “steal the punch line” when giving team presentations.
Mark your calendar to join us at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 1. Please bring your own real-world persuasive presentation questions. Eric will lead a group discussion as we prove, once again, that “none of us is as smart as all of us.”
For a quick preview of the tips you’ll learn from Eric, please read his blog post in which he shares lessons he’s learned since founding Morningstar Communications. Please follow him on Twitter @emorgenstern and Morningstar Communications @MorningstarComm.
